Virtual Sense Adventures

Back in 2018, we heard about the fantastic initiative called ‘Sense Adventures’, which aims to help people with sight impairment make the most of the countryside and experience walking in and around the Malvern Hills.

With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, an exciting programme of new virtual adventures has been introduced, from Indian cookery and chocolate making sessions, to online yoga and creative writing classes.

Dee Jones created Sense Adventures to provide the experiences that she had been looking for herself but could not find. Dee has lived in the Malvern Hills for over 30 years and was diagnosed with Rod and Cone Dystrophy several years ago, with her sight continually changing since.

All the new virtual experiences will run online over Zoom, each designed specifically with visually impaired participants in mind.

Dee will also be planning some day walks and walking weekends for 2021, Covid-permitting, and will be sharing details of these on the Sense Adventures website in coming months. All walkers are guided on a one-to-one basis, with walk leaders who have a rich knowledge of the paths and routes across the Malvern Hills, as well as the varied nature and points of interest unfolding along the way.

Details of all of the virtual experiences, and more, can be found online at senseadventures.co.uk or by getting in touch with Dee: call on 07920 144614 or email dee@senseadventures.co.uk.
